LS School Committee Goals (2025-2026)

The LS School Committee, in consultation with Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens decided on the following goals for the 2025-2026 school year. If you want to see the goals in their entirety, click the button below. 

LS School Committee Goals

1) Improve Community Connectedness

The LS School Committee will foster a sense of community where all students and families feel safe, welcome, and connected.

  •  The School Committee will work with the LS Superintendent/Principal to explore additional strategies (e.g., training, programming) to promote safety, support inclusion, and help prevent microaggressions and discrimination affecting any student or family.
  • The School Committee will work with the LS Superintendent/Principal to increase connections and communication to middle school students and families to help forecast the LS experience and “demystify LS.”
  • The School Committee will improve outreach to the LS community in Boston through the addition of a nonvoting METCO representative to the Committee.  
  • The School Committee will update the LSSC website to improve the accessibility of information to the community.
  • The School Committee will support the LS administration in identifying opportunities to use alumni data and experiences to help guide current LS students and inform decisions.

2) Strengthen Governance

The LS School Committee will work to ensure that it is performing effectively as a governing body.

  • The School Committee will work collaboratively with town representatives from Lincoln and Sudbury to make technical updates to the Regional Agreement, ensuring it complies with Massachusetts General Law and reflects current district practices.
  • The School Committee will update its protocols document to further define and institutionalize common practices and norms for the Committee’s work. 
  • The School Committee will identify areas where its members may benefit the most from professional development, and ensure opportunities are provided for this development, including a Spring workshop. 

3) Support Program Quality

The LS School Committee will work with the Superintendent/Principal to ensure high-quality programming aligned to LS’s core values, principles, and purpose. 

  • The School Committee will support the 2025-26 Strategic Plan by receiving presentations on key initiatives in the plan to monitor program effectiveness and inform decision-making. 
  • The School Committee will continue to request that presentations at meetings include quantifiable metrics when practicable, including information related to disparities in opportunities and outcomes tied to race, disability status, gender identity, and other demographic groups.
  • The School Committee will support the Superintendent/Principal in identifying criteria for assessing the Advisory program, which is entering its third year. 

4) Support the Maintenance and Improvement of the School Building

The LS School Committee will support efforts to improve the LS school facilities.

  • The School Committee will monitor the planning and implementation of the LS school building roof refurbishment project, to be completed in summer 2026.
  • The School Committee will work with LS administrators to explore options for conducting an ADA audit and capital needs assessment.
  • The School Committee will work with LS administrators to explore options for conducting hybrid LSSC meetings at LSRHS.
