The LS School Committee, in consultation with Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens, had a goal setting workshop in the Fall in which the Committee decided on the following goals. If you want to see the goals in their entirety, click the button below.
The LS School Committee will ensure core functions of the governing body are completed on time and well, in order support the new Superintendent/Principal. These goals include the identification of peer districts that can be used to draw useful comparisons.
As part of this goal, the LS School Committee has improved transparency by making supporting materials available in advance of the meeting when practicable, posting meeting notices and agendas to the LS website, and by authoring a bimonthly newsletter to the community. The Committee has also begun to host listening sessions for members of the community.
The LS School Committee will work with the Superintendent/Principal to define and narrow gaps in student experiences, opportunities, and academic outcomes. As part of this goal, presentations now include a slide on equity when applicable and equity is regularly discussed in meetings.
The LS School Committee been requesting relevant information on the mental health of the student body via presentations throughout the school year, and has been closely monitoring the the implementation of Advisory at LS.
